Why the math says this should happen

This isn't an accident, and it's not unique to Roblox. Any social network with a small group of high-degree "hub" nodes will produce a small-world graph where the average distance between any two well-connected nodes is tiny. The math: if hub accounts have hundreds of friends (Roblox raised the cap from 200 to 1,000 starting late 2024) and those friends overlap with each other (which they heavily do, since creators friend other creators), the diameter of the "creator subgraph" is essentially 2. Everyone is friends-of-friends with everyone else, almost by definition.

What's more surprising is how close regular players end up to the same creators. Even if you've never collaborated with anyone, you're probably 3–5 hops from KreekCraft simply because you have at least one friend who has at least one friend who plays Murder Mystery 2 or similar games where they ended up friended to a creator. The small-world property propagates.
